If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it week be given to him.
This verse read quite clear to me here. The Lord isn’t some super power in the sky laughing at our lack of intelligence. Rather He is a loving father who wants to pour out His blessings on us. I don’t have to stumble around in the dark hoping to figure out the answer. All I have to do is ask. What?! Really? That’s it? It seems so easy!, but how many times have I looked to far into things and in the end found the answer right under my nose? LoL. Let me tell you… that has happened so many times!
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fat of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Wow! So wisdom is both a God given gift and the fruit of an energetic search. Wisdom’s starting point is God and His revealed word, the source of “knowledge and understanding” (2:6). So in reading that, wisdom is God’s gift to us. However, He gives it only to those who earnestly seek it. He wants us to come to Him for our needs. He wants us to lean on Him for our needs. He wants us to lean on Him, our robe to touch His… Foolishly I try to obtain it on my own, foolishly I strive to be a self-made man, but that is worldly wisdom. Which next to God’s is plain foolish. In conclusion, I must only seek God and simply ask and He will give it to me… man! What a blessing!
Application: Today I will ask the Lord for patience and understanding of the lingering questions in my mind…
